Victor Fishman, MD

Victor Fishman graduated cum laude from Yeshiva University in 1989. After completing a year of basic research at the Brain Tumor Research Center at the University California at San Francisco, he entered the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Fishman decided to pursue a residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia. This decision was in part made because he already had an interest in Gastroenterology and Temple is one of the leading centers. During residency he performed research in the area of botulinum toxin use in the esophageal motility disorder, achalasia. He won awards for his work both at Temple and at the Delaware Valley Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Fishman stayed at Temple for his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. During fellowship, he focused his research in the field of hepatology where he studied the effects of congestive heart failure on the liver. His other project on iron in Hepatitis C patients was accepted for the prestigious Annual Young Investigators Conference in Digestive Diseases.

Since 2001, he has been practicing at Main Line Gastroenterology Associates and is on the staff at Lankenau Hospital, where he plays a leading role in fellow, residency and student teaching. He is also on the faculty of Thomas Jefferson University. Victor is a proud father of five boys and spends a lot of his free time coaching baseball...and helping his wife.
